WHO WE ARE
We started Claymates to create a space for you to practice pottery - with the tools, instruction and support you need to flourish creatively. We think pottery is best practiced in community, and inspiration and growth happen when we can learn from one another.
OUR STORY
Averee founded Claymates in 2019 as a hobbyist potter, brand new to running a community studio. The learning curve was steep, but with the help of friends, family, local ceramics experts, and small business loans, the studio came together and Claymates was at full capacity with a waitlist within 6 months!
In 2021, Averee’s husband Kevin quit his day job to join the Claymates staff team. Since then, they have operated and grown the business together with complementary skill sets.
In 2023, Claymates moved from a shoebox in the Fraserhood to a warehouse in False Creek Flats. Averee and Kevin designed and renovated both studios themselves and learned a lot along the way!

We feel so lucky to have found such a great group of people to represent Claymates, who foster a welcoming environment for students and members.
